It’s hard to retrain a brain that has for years responded to external events in a very internalized way. A string of unfortunate events can cause us to fall down the rabbit hole of uncertainty and self-pity.
Procrastination will wiggle its way into your brain and convince you to push everything off, just a little bit. It can’t possibly hurt! Plus, you’ll bend over backward in order to justify it.
I see you struggling against the tide. You seem to be going backward. Rather than riding the waves in, the sea seems to be pulling you out, feet first.
Your job is WHAT you do. It is not, however, WHO YOU ARE.
It can feel that way, especially when you consider the hours we spend at work. So, how do you regain your sense of identity when you no longer do what you used to do?
It’s OK to not be OK. We don’t always have to pretend everything is fine because we’re worried other people won’t be fine if we admit that we’re not. Sometimes you just need to wallow in the muck for a bit before you get back to the messiness of life.
