Give Yourself the Permission You Need

Embarassed woman give yourself the permission you need

Hey there… I see you…

Holding yourself back. Staying in the background. Hiding.

What are you waiting for?

Approval?

The time to be “just right”? (Read why “As Soon As” are the three biggest goal-killing words!)

Someone to hand you a road map and guaranteed success?

You’re going to be waiting a while. The cavalry isn’t coming.

You want to be something? Do something? Make something?

Put on your Big Girl pants and get this thing started on your own…

Stake your claim. Make strides. Get out of your own way and get going.

The only thing holding you back is you.

So you haven’t gotten it all figured it out yet. Who has?

You don’t need to see the finish line before starting the race. You just put one foot in front of the other.

It took me a while to realize that I was waiting for a permission slip that would never be written. Permission to do what, I wasn’t even sure.

Work that was meaningful to me. A work-life balance that didn’t leave me harried and stressed. The ability to accept a compliment and feel worthy of it.

No one else was going to do that for me. And no one else is going to do that for you.

It’s no one else’s job to get you to take ownership of your life and your talents but YOU.

But I get you – I am you, after all – and I know you’re still waiting for someone else to tell you it’s OK.

So, I’m going to help you out until you can do this by yourself, for yourself.

I hereby grant you permission:

… to be you…

… to dream big…

… to take chances…

… to make changes…

… to make mistakes and fail (and live to tell about it)…

… to try and try again…

… to change your mind…

… to stumble, reverse course, or – yes – even quit…

… to walk away from what’s no longer serving you…

… to accept yourself as you are today and to love who you will become when you do that…

… to become a Woman of History. Today.

No one is in charge of you but you.

All these half-truths you tell yourself about why you can’t or won’t or shouldn’t or wouldn’t… Those are fearful voices narrating your story and determining the plot.

The work is hard but it’s worth it.

Stop holding yourself back.

It’s your story. You’re the author. You get to create what happens next.

I grant you permission to do that! Now give it to yourself and get started.
